Manuka Honey
Honey has been used for centuries by cultures world wide as a medicine. Scientific research now shows that New Zealand Manuka Honey has topped the class in healing ability.
All manuka honey has some degree of antibacterial ability. What makes manuka such a good healer is a unique chemistry that occurs naturally between manuka nectar from the plants growing in the wild and the honey ripening enzyme introduced by the bees as they store honey in the hive.

The presence of antibacterial activity is now a hot scientific research topic. There are two kinds of antibacterial activity.
Peroxide Activity which is present naturally in all manuka honey.
Non-Peroxide Activity which occurs less frequently and has been discovered to have a wider range and a greater antibacterial ability.
This non peroxide activity was discovered, named and copyrighted as Unique Manuka Factor or UMF by a group of researchers, producers and honey packagers in NZ.
Generally this non peroxide honey is called Active Manuka.
309 Honey use independent certified laboratories which test for and rate non peroxide activity in manuka honey.
As primary producers we cross test our honey to assure that the activity readings are consecutive, consistant and correct.
